The Civil War was a dark spot in American History. War is always a sad time, and it is especially difficult to bear when it takes place on your home land. It is even harder to bear when there is only one country involved, and Americans are killing Americans. As much as the Civil War is sad and dark it also did some great things for the Country of America. It opened up opportunities for Women who needed to make money for their families since their husbands had gone to fight. This opened up job opportunities in factories and other places due to the shortage in men. The Civil War also helped abolished slavery, which is the most impressive feat of all. Slavery and The Civil War go hand and hand and the biggest positive coming out of the Civil War was the abolishment of that horrible institution. The Civil War however did cause people to do unspeakable things such as hanging. The the following two pages give a look at the two sides of the Civil War, The South and The North, and give a perspective into the beliefs of both sides. Enjoy.
