This page tells the story of the civil war from the eyes of the Southern people. The South believed in Jefferson Davis who was the President of the Confederate states during the war. The South also adored their great general-in chief Robert E. Lee. Lee ended up surrendering to the Union to end the war, however he was a great leader and adored by many. The Confederates started the war off with a win a Fort Sumter even though nobody died in the battle the South thought it would be an easy victory and a short war. The Confederates also felt that they would win after the Battle of Blull Run. Then came Antietam which was the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. This battle hurt southern moral. Besides Lee there were other Confederate generals who were adored and became quite famous because of their involvement in the war. Those two were William Mahone and Stonewall Jackson. Women also played an important role in the Civil War. Jobs opened up for women since all the men were in the war, but a job that was very famous was a spy for the South who was a Women who used her connections in the North to find out information. The South towards the end of the war was destroyed and in shambles. The war ended with a treaty signed by a somber Lee and Ulysses S Grant.
